VPAA & HRD SPEARHEAD MANPOWER REVIEW by Jerico Buñing

A Manpower Review was conducted by the Human Resources Department in partnership with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Epitacio S. Palispis, with the different colleges from April 16-19, 2007 at the Health Sciences Center Conference Room. A summary of the findings and recommendations were later presented to the Academic Council last May 19, 2007.

Objectives of the activity were the following: (1) To assess and align current structure and manpower complement vis-à-vis the college's/department's potential needs/ requirements for the coming school year 2007-2008; (2) to initially prepare all the colleges for possible accreditation, specifically on the aspect of credentialing of faculty profiles; and (3) to fully maximize existing faculty resources across all Colleges as the need arises (Internal Hiring Priority).

Moreover, the primary trust of the faculty credentialing is to ensure that the main providers of quality education are academically equipped and highly competent. Gaps in the competencies which resulted in the manpower will be filled in through the necessary trainings and development that will be provided by the University.

The HRD Director plans to do the same activity to the non-academic department in collaboration with the Vice President for Administration and Finance on July 2007.
