I grabbed my new pair of eyeglasses to get a better perspective of the view right in front of me while Jim Brickman played carousel with the piano keys of his baby grand in my ears…
This is a right mighty night to be looking at what has been and what I have seen. I am not going to be the sage though. No. I dare sit beside Socrates and echo with him... I know nothing.
I caught some stardust and closed my eyes…
Ramblings in the empty halls. Hurried scuffling of shoes. Excited mutterings and nervous glances through tired eyes. People seated on the edge of their seats… waiting… waiting… noisy slurps of sinigang at lunch time, while time stopped and the whole world waited…
It was a day of reckoning, the Now Na moment built on 44 years of history. It was July 18, 2006 when Resolution No. 471, Series of 2006 was signed. Trinity College of Quezon City opened Academic Year 2006-2007 as an adolescent and opened her eyes one morning to see that she was all grown up.
A university was born and was inaugurated on September 18, 2006 at the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. John by Hon. Carlito Puno, Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education.
A dream realized…
I rubbed my eyes and readjusted my glasses…
An investiture followed. An oath of office administered. The gracious lady receives the weight of the academic collar upon her very capable shoulders and in her hands was handed the university mace, heavy and distinguished looking.
Celebration… then more work to be done…
I heard more movement after that… Foundations unearthed and tested so that they would serve their purpose. Alston Hall now stands gracefully beside the gymnasium, a two-storey mini-hotel which houses the life of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) and its laboratories. A new College springs forth from its mother, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Beginnings and possibilities scent the air…
Round the clock, the construction advanced… more movement revitalizing the campus and inviting more to come and see what growth was taking place in this Institution, which has embraces its new name, Trinity University of Asia!
Carson Hall, the administration building sees the light of the 21st century and becomes young again, looking forward to more years of service which stretched into the future.
The Noble Gymnasium with her new floors, squeak "I love you" to Nike shoes and is ready and excited to host games as soon as the whistle goes off!
The Health Sciences Center's additional floors has been completed, Ogilby Hall, the College of Arts and Sciences building renovated and made more spacious.
St. Luke's College of Nursing marked her 100th year as she is greeted by kudos among other institutions in the field and is distinguished as a center for excellence.
The College of Medical Technology received an award for Business Excellence: Most Outstanding Medical technology School from the Philippine Business World - Quality Class in the Philippines.
Events fell into place this 44th year of TUA… A year of rebirth or harvest of the choicest fruits whose seed was planted by each person who walked the halls, pathways of this Christian Institution… a year to celebrate hard work, integrity, passion for Education and love for Trinity and for one another…
When the dust settled from my walk around the campus, the gardener caught my attention. Setting up the sprinklers in the early morning now, and planting some trees along the covered pathway where the students love to while away their free time, he stood oblivious to those around him.
He planted and watered what he has sown…
Jim Brickman was more gentle now, as he played Blessings on his piano. I hum the tune with him…
